--Why Women Over 30 Are Sexy--

As a 30-something woman, she worries that guys aren't into her type, but several male friends set her straight and reveal that women over thirty may be even more attractive than the 20-somethings she is intimidated by.
~
34-year-old Raoul Djukanovic* says: Why would I talk to someone over 30? Well, because I'm over 30. But I'd talk to anyone who talked to me with spirit, young or old. If someone's being open and sincere, that's attractive.
~
Johnny Gilbane, 36: I'm all about women over 30 — because they have realized, like I have, that relationships aren't perfect. I think a lot of younger women are constantly attempting to model their lives and relationships after some unattainable ideal. So I'll take a 35-year-old, Harper's-reading, well-dressing, book-toting, glasses-wearing woman any day of the week. And twice on Sunday. So long as she's retained the one trait that 26-year-old women have in spades: reckless abandon about being in love.
~
Christopher Gambrills, 26: I've been attracted to older women in the past when they made no apologies about their age. They didn't try to look or act any younger than they felt. There's something graceful about that — about being at ease with yourself and the world. And crow's-feet can be sexy. Looking like you've lived and know something about the world is sexy, at least to me.
~
Mike Parkwood, 34: Far more women in their 30s know what they're talking about when they say they're looking for serious relationships. Older women are less likely to have idiosyncratic rules about what men should and shouldn't do. They know that relationships involve compromises, silent and spoken negotiations, mutual respect, and equal power. Younger women don't understand that stuff, in general, as well as women in their later 20s and 30s do.

--Roh Funeral Shows South Korea Divisions--

SEOUL – Eulogists remembered South Korea's former president Roh Moo-hyun as a politician of humble beginnings who sought a compassionate society but killed himself in anguish over a bribery scandal that has laid bare the country's deep political divisions.
~
"We pray you will lead us to reconciliation and unity as we are divided and alienate each other," Han Myung-sook, one of Mr. Roh's prime ministers during his 2003-2008 tenure, said at a state funeral service on the grounds of a palace that was the seat of government for 500 years.
~
Ms. Han referred directly to an investigation of Mr. Roh by state prosecutors in her eulogy, saying he was unable to fulfill his dream of a quiet post-presidency in the town where he grew up. "Harsh times and rough seasons just would not even allow an opportunity to realize such modest dreams," she said.
~
Mr. Roh, 62 years old, died from an apparent suicide last Saturday by jumping from a cliff near his home in the town of Gimhae. About an hour earlier, he wrote a note on his personal computer that said he had caused too much pain to other people. "Don't be sorry, don't resent anyone," he wrote.

--You Will Never Walk Alone--

"You'll Never Walk Alone" is a show tune from the 1945 Rodgers and Hammerstein musical, Carousel.

~

In the musical, in the second act, Nettie Fowler, the cousin of the female protagonist Julie Jordan, sings "You'll Never Walk Alone" to comfort and encourage Julie when her husband, Billy Bigelow, the male lead, has killed himself after a failed robbery. It is reprised in the final scene to encourage a graduation class of which Louise (their daughter) is a member. Billy attends this ceremony during his return to earth and inspires them with his words of encouragement to assure them of his love.

~

The song is also sung at football clubs around the world, where it is performed by a massed chorus of supporters on matchday; this tradition began at Liverpool F.C in the early 1960s and later spread to several other clubs.

--South Korea plans public funeral for ex-leader Roh--

SEOUL (Reuters) - South Korea's government and the family of former President Roh Moo-hyun agreed on Sunday to hold a public funeral for the leader who likely jumped to his death after being hounded for weeks in a widening corruption scandal.
~
Roh, 62, whose single five-year term as president ended about 15 months ago, appears to have leapt from a cliff behind his rural home on Saturday morning.
~
He wrote in a note before his death: "Don't blame anybody. Please cremate me. And please leave a small tombstone near home." Local police said the results of a provisional investigation indicate the death was suicide.
~
"It is more desirable to send the former president off in an honorable and courteous way befitting a former president and to allow as many people as possible to pay reverence and praise him," Cheon Ho-seon, a spokesman for Roh when he was president, said in a statement.
~
Local media said the government and family were looking to hold the funeral on Friday for Roh, a self-taught lawyer who rose from rural poverty and won the presidency backed by a generation of students who hit the streets to fight for democracy in the 1980s.

--General Bogyoke Aung San--

General Bogyoke Aung San (Burmese: ; MLCTS: buil hkyup aung hcan:; IPA: [bòʊdʒoʊʔ àʊn sʰán]); February 13, 1915 – July 19, 1947) was a Burmese revolutionary, nationalist, and founder of the modern Burmese army, the Tatmadaw.
~
He was instrumental in bringing about Burma's independence from British colonial rule, but was assassinated six months before its final achievement. He is recognized as the leading architect of independence, and the founder of the Union of Burma. Affectionately known as "Bogyoke" (General), Aung San is still widely admired by the Burmese people, and his name is still invoked in Burmese politics to this day.
~
Aung San is the father of Nobel Peace laureate and opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi who has been under house arrest for the past 17 years. She began her 18th year on May 17, 2008.

--Aung San Suu Kyi--

Aung San Suu Kyi AC (Burmese: အောင်ဆန်းစုကြည် or ; MLCTS: aung hcan: cu. krany;
~
born 19 June 1945 in Rangoon, is Prime Minister-elect, a pro-democracy activist and leader of the National League for Democracy in Burma, and a noted prisoner of conscience and advocate of nonviolent resistance. Aung San Suu Kyi was the third child in her family. Her name is derived from three relatives; "Aung San" from her father, "Kyi" from her mother and "Suu" from her grandmother. Suu Kyi won the Rafto Prize and the Sakharov Prize for Freedom of Thought in 1990 and the Nobel Peace Prize in 1991. In 1992 she was awarded the Jawaharlal Nehru peace prize by the Government of India for her peaceful and non-violent struggle under a military dictatorship. She is currently under detention, with the Burmese junta repeatedly extending her detention. According to the results of the 1990 general election, Suu Kyi earned the right to be Prime Minister, as leader of the winning National League for Democracy party, but her detention by the military junta prevented her from assuming that role.
~
She is frequently called Daw Aung San Suu Kyi; Daw is not part of her name, but an honorific similar to madam for older, revered women, literally meaning "aunt". Strictly speaking, her given name is equivalent to her full name, but it is acceptable to refer to her as "Ms. Suu Kyi" or Dr. Suu Kyi, since those syllables serve to distinguish her from her father, General Aung San, who is considered to be the father of modern-day Burma.

Donors pay US$13,000 for a school, with matching funds provided by the World Bank and Asian Development Bank, through partnership with Cambodia's Social Fund and Ministry of Education. After the school is constructed, donors are strongly encouraged to enrich the lives of students by funding improvments for their school. School improvements include English and computer teachers, computers powered through solar panels, Internet access through a satellite dish or GPRS system, a well or water filter, a school nurse, a vegetable garden, and a bookcase of books.

--AMULET--

An amulet (from Latin amuletum; earliest extant use in Natural History [Pliny], meaning "an object that protects a person from trouble"), a close cousin of the talisman (from Arabic طلاسم tilasm, ultimately from Greek telesma or from the Greek word "telein" which means "to initiate into the mysteries") consists of any object intended to bring good luck and/or protection to its owner. Potential amulets include: gems or simple stones, statues, coins, drawings, pendants, rings, plants, animals, etc.; even words said in certain occasions—for example: vade retro satana—(Latin, "go back, Satan"), to repel evil or bad luck.
